Tamas Is Hungary For Games
Tamas Kadar hopes to be involved against Darlington on Friday after coming through a behind-closed-doors practice match against Hamilton.
After suffering a hamstring injury in only his second game on loan at Huddersfield, the Hungary international was ruled out for the second part of last season but played for his country at the Toulon Tournament in France last month.
And he looked sharp and strong in his 45-minute outing for the Reserves at United's training ground, although Newcastle went down to a 2-0 defeat against the Scots.
Speaking exclusively to nufc.co.uk, 21-year-old Kadar - who made 13 appearances during the Championship winning campaign two years ago but only played once for United, in the Carling Cup defeat to Arsenal, last term - revealed that he now feels ready to challenge for a first-team place.
"I played for Hungary three times in the Toulon Tournament and I think we did well even though we didn't go through after the group stages. We won the first game against China 3-0, then lost to Mexico and drew against France.
"It was a good tournament with the quality of players and I think we've got a good squad. A lot of the players will hopefully be involved in the European Championship qualification campaign, so it was a good tournament to be part of.
"It was good to get games for me after my injury and I'm fully fit. I just want to do a good pre-season with the lads and I just want to play. I don't want to get any more injuries.
"I had a bad hamstring injury but now I'm fully fit for the first time since January. Now it's in the past so I'm just looking forward to getting games and trying to prove myself to the manager and to everyone here. Hopefully I can break through and get games for the first-team."
Kadar added: "I felt comfortable in the Hamilton game and I don't know what's going to happen on Friday but I hope to be in the squad for the first-team so if I can play against Darlington, I'll be happy."
