Alan Pardew has hinted that he might give a few of his younger players a chance to shine in the final game of the season against West Brom - but he might be tempted to give a run-out to one of his elder statesmen too!
With Steve Harper recovering from a minor knee operation, goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman joined in training on Friday morning - and the former Northampton and Oxford shot-stopper was almost unbeatable.
Joey Barton and Leon Best were left stunned as they both tried to nutmeg him, only for Woodman to deny them with razor sharp reflexes, while he pulled off several other top drawer saves to thwart United's players.
Best was back in training after injury as was Tamas Kadar, who has been out for several weeks with a hamstring complaint, although it remains to be seen if either play a part against The Baggies.
They probably have more chance than Woodman, despite the way he rolled back the years on Friday, but if the gaffer is contemplating giving a game to any of his old stagers, long-serving club photographer Ian Horrocks may even pull on his boots. For now, though, he's happy bringing us this latest gallery from United's Benton base.
