Chris Hughton will surely play some youngsters and fringe players for the game against Arsenal on Wednesday night, in the 4th round of the Carling Cup.
Tamas Kadar – expected to start on Wednesday night
And the players we think could well get a start against The Gunners include Shane Ferguson, Ryan Taylor, Nile Ranger, Haris Vuckic, Tamas Kadar, Peter Lovenkrands, Danny Guthrie and Wayne Routledge.
Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today that he will make some changes to the team for the Arsenal game:
“I’ll definitely make changes – how many, I don’t know.” “It will be an opportunity for a lot of players.” “We’re at home – it’s a nice opportunity for us.”
Hughton will again have some tough decisions to make on Wednesday night, but the top priority this week has to be the game next Sunday afternoon against Sunderland, and getting all three points from that game to register Newcastle’s first back-to-back league wins of the season. Every league point is just so valuable this season.
But it seems Chris Hughton is still getting over the extra special display by the lads on Saturday afternoon, after the side struggled badly in that first 15 minutes:
“I’m struggling to think of anybody who didn’t perform well. The two centre-halves, and in particular Willo, were tested early on, but he came on to a good game. There were so many good performances.”
Well the simple truth of the matter is the lads got the job done on Saturday – big time – and it was the type of game Newcastle fans love to see.
Oh for a couple more results like that one this week.
