Kadar vows to fight back from injury
TAMAS KADAR has vowed to overcome his pre-season injury setback by making sure he is fit and available for selection for Newcastle United’s final friendly with Glasgow Rangers next Saturday.
The Hungarian Under-21 international was rocked by a groin injury during the Magpies’ boot camp in Dublin earlier this month and has not appeared in the Toon’s pre-season schedule so far.
Kadar battled back brilliantly last year from a broken leg to make 13 appearances in Newcastle’s title-winning campaign.
The eastern European is yet to taste defeat in a league game for the black-and-whites – and hopes to carry that superb record into the new season for as long as possible.
He told the Chronicle: “I am really upset because of this injury which has arrived in a very bad time.
“I started with pre-season training very well, and it happened on the last day of the training camp before the first pre-season game at Carlisle.
“It is a pity, because I am not able to play games and just work in the gym and do some running work.”
Kadar admits he has big ambitions to push on the first team this season, and was handed a major boost when legendary skipper Bob Moncur gave him a glowing report in the Chronicle earlier this week.
The former Zalaegerszegi youngster – who once played in goal during an Intertoto Cup tie – said: “It is not a happy time for a player especially not when you have big dreams and you want to reach these dreams as soon as possible.
“However, I cannot do anything else apart from focus on my recovery.”
United physiotherapist Davy Henderson has also been praised by the Toon young gun.
He said: “I trained three times per day with our physio staff, and they do a fantastic job so I am in good hands.
“I hope I can train together with the team at the latest next week, then I would like to play games as early as possible.”
